You know them and might even have them. So, the idea of your precious pup sleeping in them is appealing. We’re talking about Uggs, of course.
The recognizable brand with the three-letter logo is famous for suede slippers and boots with a genuine shearling lining that turns walking into a day at the spa. And for a brief time, UGG dog beds were all the rage, and for obvious reasons.
However, these days, original UGG dog beds are few and far between (although we have a few tips on where to find them!). Now, the sister brand, Koolaburra by UGG, has taken the reins with a more affordable pet products line. And, beyond a change of logo, the differences are hard to spot.
Pros
- Low to mid-priced
- Soft Sherpa lining
- A removable pillow turns into a travel bed
- Non-skid bottom
- Bolsters for neck and joint support
- Certified non-toxic
- Animal-friendly polyfill and memory foam filling
- Well-constructed and durable
Cons
- Spot clean only
- Sized more for small and medium breeds
The primary Koolaburra difference lies beneath the soft and fluffy exterior. Instead of the original UGG orthopedic memory foam mattress, newer models use a blend. Koolaburra by UGG dog beds have mattresses stuffed with memory foam and animal-friendly polyfill.
Everything else is pretty darn consistent, though. One even has the traditional UGG look of Chestnut Brown suede with an off-white Sherpa lining. The rest carry the faux fur to the outside of the bed for an extra kick of softness.
Koolaburra by UGG’s line is more expansive with five models ranging from pouf to a rectangular bolster style.
What Dogs This Bed is Best For
Comfort is king with UGG dog beds. They encourage pups to curl up into a blanket of warmth and coziness rather than super supportiveness.
That doesn’t mean that the cushioning falls flat or there aren’t bolsters for joint pain relief, though. But our Koolaburra by UGG dog bed review revealed that they’re better suited for small to medium fur babies who don’t need a proper orthopedic foundation.
The sizes also fall in line, as the largest UGG pet bed is 36” long, not including bolsters on both ends. You could push it with some larger breeds. However, the ideal dog for UGG dog beds is on the smaller end of the spectrum.

Features
Even though there are five Koolaburra by UGG dog bed models, they’re consistent with their primary features.
Instead of mats or plain pillow-type pet beds, UGG relies on bolsters for extra cushioning and support. However, regardless of your pick, you’ll have two beds in one. The middle pad or mattress can separate from the base, doubling as a travel bed. You can throw it in your car or pack it in a suitcase as it’s soft, light, and easy to transport.
Other consistent features include the soft Sherpa lining and a non-slip bottom.
UGG Dog Bed Features:
- Medium to high bolsters
- Faux fur lining
- Removable cushion
- Anti-slip bottom
- Animal-friendly, non-toxic materials
- Combination of poly and memory foam fill
- Embroidered dog bone logo
Dog Test – Scruff’s Opinion
Why won’t my Mom, Dad, and little sis just leave me alone for a bit? I don’t want to tell them how soft and snuggly my UGG dog bed is. Instead, I just want to enjoy it!
I’ve worked hard for Restful Dog for years, sharing my opinions and testing everything from crate mats to super-sized mattresses I can barely reach. But, boy, I’m loving my job today. My fur blends into the soft fur of this bed, and I can rest my head under the big sidewalls, so I feel safe and secure.
I’m not sure if I’ve ever been this comfortable!

Types of UGG Dog Beds
The full Koolaburra by UGG dog bed line covers five models with the distinctive embroidered bone, replacing the original UGG logo.
- Pouf
- Donut
- Furr-EE Donut
- Oval Bolster-style (Cuddler)
- Rectangular Furr-EE Bolster-style
Pouf
The UGG Pouf is a one-size-fits-all pet bed for dogs who like to sleep in a curled-up position and feel safe and protected. It’s round with relatively high bolsters encircling the sleeping area in the middle.
Instead of faux suede, the entire pouf is covered in ridiculously soft Sherpa with a non-slip base. The mattress doubles as a removable pillow – ideal for taking your pup on the road. But the downside is that, even with a pad that pops out, this and every UGG dog bed are spot-clean-only.
Sizes:
- Large – 32” x 32” x 17.5”
Colors:
- Gray
Donut – Sacha Faux Fur
The donut-style model is known as the Koolaburra by UGG Sacha Faux Fur Pet Bed. It’s another one-size-only option covered in plush faux fur and featuring a removable pillow. But this one is even smaller, maxing out at 30”.
We think the Sacha is the most stylish of the bunch, though. You could go traditional with the Birch color that’ll undoubtedly match your décor. However, this UGG dog bed comes in a muted tie-dye option that we’ve never seen before.
Sizes:
- Medium – 30” x 30” x 9”
Colors:
- Birch, Tie Dye
Furr-EE Donut
The Furr-EE Donut is about twice the price as the original Sacha we just covered, but we’re sure why. There’s not much difference between the two, and even the overall size is consistent.
This model has a bit more sleeping area but nothing too significant. It’s covered in frosted faux rabbit fur and features the consistent removable pillow and anti-slip bottom.
If you’re looking for an UGG donut-style dog bed, we recommend the Sacha, though, as it’s more affordable and stylish.
Sizes:
- Medium – 30” x 30” x 9”
Colors:
- Frosted Gray
Oval Bolster – Traditional UGG Design
We’re calling it an Oval Bolster, but its actual name is Faux Suede Sherpa Pet Bed. This one is the model you’ll gravitate to if you prefer traditional UGG styling with brown (faux) suede outside and off-white fur inside.
It comes in three sizes, and you also have the choice of replacing the Chestnut Brown with Black faux suede. Bolsters surround the bed providing great neck and joint support, and there’s a cutout in the front for smaller pups who don’t want to hop the “great bolster wall.”
Sizes:
- Small – 23” x 23” x 7”
- Medium – 30” x 30” x 9”
- Large – 36” x 36” x 9”
Colors:
- Chestnut Brown
- Black
Rectangular Furr-EE Bolster
Koolaburra by UGG’s Furr-EE Bolster is similar to the oval model. But it goes back to the faux rabbit fur instead of the suede, a trademark of the UGG brand.
Except for the brown or black suede, you’ll find the same size options and features as the cuddler, and the prices are also identical. So, it’s just a question of whether you want an oval or rectangular bed and suede over fur.
Sizes:
- Small – 23” x 23” x 7”
- Medium – 30” x 30” x 9”
- Large – 36” x 36” x 9”
Colors:
- Gray
The Original UGG Dog Bed
We mentioned that retailers now carry Koolaburra by UGG instead of the genuine UGG brand. It’s not a knockoff, though. Instead, Koolaburra is a sister brand under the UGG umbrella. So, you’re still going to get a durable, quality product. However, we know some people are loyal to the original, so we did some research for you.
At one point, Bed, Bath, and Beyond was the go-to for UGG dog beds. You might get lucky if you pop into one of your local stores and speak with a manager. But if you search online, all you’ll get is “no longer available.”
An alternative is to shop online retailers like Amazon or Poshmark. We found an UGG Sherpa Dog Bed set on Poshmark for $110 – a 28” x 24” cuddler-type model that comes with a Sherpa blanket.
Cleaning and Durability
UGG dog beds get high marks for durability from customers who have put them through the pup abuse test for an extended period. Reviews are positive, with very few negative comments about the construction.
Cleaning, on the other hand, is more problematic. Even though the pillows (aka mattresses) are removable, the covers aren’t. These beds are spot clean only, which is OK if the user isn’t accident-prone. But this isn’t the brand for you if you’re looking for an option with a machine washable cover.
Warranties and Policies
Kohl’s is the primary distributor of Koolaburra by UGG dog beds. You can’t order them directly from the brand’s website.
So, the warranty and return policies align with Kohl’s other goods. That means you have 180 days to return the dog bed, even if you can’t find the receipt.
