Yes! These are the people that bring you some pretty incredible human beds. The team over at Purple decided to take that technology and convert it over to the world of dog beds. And, the result is one of the most technologically-driven dog bed options on the market, worthy of an intensive Purple dog bed review.
But here’s the real question—is the Purple dog bed worth it? Does the same tech that humans love translate over to the world of pets well? That’s what we’re here to get to the bottom of today.
In our Purple dog bed review, our expert team (including our dog Scruff) are going to talk pros, cons, features, sizing, pricing, cleaning, durability, and answer the question of whether or not this bed is worth it for your dog!
Pros
- The bed is odor neutralizing, moisture-resistant, and antimicrobial
- Incredible support to protect your dog’s joints
- 100 night trial, 1-year warranty, and free shipping
- Utilizes the same Purple Grid technology that the human versions use.
Cons
- On the pricier side of dog beds
- Might need a larger size if your dog likes to sprawl out
Scruff gave the Purple dog bed a great four out of five paws rating. Scruff felt the support and comfort of the bed was awesome, but his personal preference is dog beds that have sides to rest his head.
What Dogs This Bed is Best For
The Purple dog bed is ideal for dogs that like a firm, yet comfortable level of support. If you purchase based on the size guide the company has, the bed is ideal for dogs that like to curl up. However, if your dog likes to sprawl out, you may want to opt for a slightly larger size.
Purple’s dog bed is excellent when it comes to support, especially if your dog has any joint issues or is getting up there in years. It’s also good for younger dogs that might be really active or are a breed with a history of joint or hip issues.
And for the humans, the bed is incredibly easy to clean, comes with a 1-year warranty, free shipping, and a 100-night trial. It also looks really classy and says to the world, “I love my dog A LOT.” So, it’s not really one of those dog beds that you need to hide when company comes over.

Features
What’s nice about the Purple dog bed is that there is only one option you have to choose from and it comes with the super-fancy human technology we see in Purple mattresses. Here’s a breakdown of what things look on the inside:
Compared with other dog beds, the Purple dog bed checks every box you could ever want when it comes to features. The material is high quality, it’s easy to clean, and it’s designed to protect your dog’s joints. Here are some of the other features that come with the bed:
- Machine washable cover
- Odor-neutralizing, antimicrobial, and moisture-resistant
- Deep pressure relief and support through the Purple Grid technology
- Made from non-toxic durable material
Dog Test – Scruff’s Opinion
I LOVE this bed after a long hard day of chasing cats and jumping up and down off the couch. I’m just a little guy, so all the activity can make my puppy body feel like an old man. That’s where the Purple dog bed knocks it out of the dog park with a homerun for support.
For sleeping, I prefer dog beds with sides (the couch-type ones) or beds that “give” a little more and let the cushion material come all around me. I get scared easily so that makes me feel safer. But my owner put this bed in his office for me to lay on, and it’s great because he makes me feel safe.
That’s just my personal preference. I checked customer reviews all over the internet and people’s dog’s LOVE this bed.
I give the Purple dog bed a raving four out of five paws.
Sizes and Options
The Purple dog bed comes in three different sizes:
- Small: 1-30 lbs.
- Medium: 31-70 lbs.
- Large: 71+ lbs.
Our review uncovers that Purple dog beds are the perfect size for dogs that like to curl up but run a bit smaller for dogs that like to sprawl out. We purchased the small bed for Scruff because he’s about 16-18 lbs., which puts him right in the middle of the small-sized bracket. As you can see from the picture above, if he lays one direction he has plenty of room, but if he lays the other direction, he hangs off a bit (which he strangely likes to do sometimes).
If your dog usually likes to curl up, the sizing is probably spot on. However, if your dog likes to sprawl out, you may want to consider going up a size. This is even more applicable if your dog is right at the upper edge of one of the weight ranges.
Cleaning and Durability
The Purple dog bed crushes almost every other option on the market when it comes to cleaning and cleanliness. There are very few, if any other beds out there that advertise being odor neutralizing, moisture-resistant, non-toxic, and antimicrobial. What that means is that the bed is going to do a lot of work on its own to stay clean and smell fresh.
And when things do need to inevitably get cleaned, you can just pop off the cover and toss it in the washing machine. The inner padding is not machine washable, but it’s pretty protected with the moisture resistant cover. We wouldn’t recommend tossing it out in the rain, but it should be nice and durable against most common doggie issues.
Regarding durability, Scruff went to town trying to scratch and dig the Purple dog bed into oblivion. The result? No damage or any areas that look like they could turn into problem areas. We’re pretty impressed in that department.
Warranties and Policies
Another area of our Purple dog bed review that really shines is the company’s warranty and return policies. What’s standard in the pet industry is that most things can’t be returned because of health concerns and scents, etc. Not with Purple! Here’s everything you get when you buy:
- 1-year warranty (From the date of purchase)
- 100-night trial (Full refund and they’ll pick it up if you don’t like it)
- Free shipping (Ours showed up extremely quickly through Fed Ex in a big box marked ‘Purple’)
