PetFusion Dog Bed Review

If you’ve been a pet parent for a while, you might be familiar with the PetFusion name. Retailers like Amazon and Chewy carry the brand, and we’ve featured a few products, like the PetFusion Calming Cuddler, in some of our “best” lists. So, we think it’s helpful to have a full PetFusion dog bed review.

But for this particular review, we’re going to focus on PetFusion’s core line-up of dog beds. Like the Ultimate Pet Bed and Lounger, these are the ones that put the company on the map, and you’re about to find out why and if they’re worth the hype.

But the primary PetFusion dog bed line includes three models – Ultimate Pet Bed, Betterlounge, and Puppychoice Dog Crate Bed.

PetFusion’s vision is to combine a stylish design with exceptional quality and an affordable price. And, while you’ll need to decide if the cost is attractive enough, we’ll cover the quality and stylishness as we review all three products.

What Dogs This Bed is Best For

We wouldn’t necessarily consider PetFusion to be a niche provider, as it produces a variety of models and sizes. They work for small or large breeds. And, with the solid memory foam and bolsters that double as joint supports, even pups with arthritis or muscle aches can sleep comfortably.

PetFusion also ticks a few more boxes for some wish lists. For example, the beds aren’t just water-resistant but come with waterproof liners, so occasional accidents are no big deal. And, the non-slip bottom is helpful when you’ve got playful pups that tend to run and jump, even at bedtime.

Features

You won’t find over-the-top designs by PetFusion. Instead, the brand focuses on the features that all pet parents appreciate.

The users benefit from a memory foam mattress that adapts to them. After it’s done cradling the joints and easing discomfort, it bounces right back for the next use. Supportive low-profile bolsters also double as neck cradles or a place to rest the back for side sleepers. Even the dog crate bed has those little extras that make a significant difference.

A few of the features you’ll appreciate are the water-resistant cover that wipes clean and is machine washable. It’ll take care of the little oopsies here and there. But if your fur baby has an accident, the mattress stays clean due to the inner waterproof liner – one of our top recommendations regardless of whether you buy a PetFusion dog bed or another brand.

PetFusion Features (Core Product Line):

  • Memory foam mattress for orthopedic support
  • Supportive, low-profile bolsters
  • Water-resistant, tear-resistant covers
  • A waterproof inner liner
  • Non-skid bottom
  • Removable, machine-washable covers
  • Separate zipper compartment for bolsters (Ultimate model)
  • Replacement covers available

Dog Test – Scruff’s Opinion

dog bed expert, dog bed reviews, dog bed reviewer

Mom and Dad sent me into my crate for a few hours to try the Puppychoice Dog Crate Bed. I don’t mind much because it gives me some time to hide from my sister. And this time, it was even better because I took a “Restful Dog” nap. Even though I always have some kind of mattress in there, the Puppychoice gave me something more – side pillows! I like to snuggle up in the corner, and, instead of feeling the uncomfortable crate, it was soft, cushiony, and sooo comfy!

Overview of PetFusion

Even though PetFusion has become a household name for many pet parents, with pet beds and accessories in online marketplaces, the brand only launched in 2010.

Its three-part dog bed mission is to produce products:

  1. that blend into the home with stylish colors and design
  2. of exceptional quality
  3. at an affordable price

Our PetFusion dog bed review focuses on the three products that are the brand’s foundation and are available to buy direct. But, keep in mind that other models use a different formula. Not all PetFusion beds have memory foam mattresses or waterproof liners, like the Ultimate, BetterLounge, and PuppyChoice crate bed.

Different Types of PetFusion Dog Beds

As we’ve mentioned, the PetFusion dog bed catalog is expansive, as different options are available through other retail locations. But you can purchase any of the “big three” directly from PetFusion.

  1. Ultimate Pet Bed and Lounge – Premium Edition
  2. Betterlounge
  3. Puppychoice Dog Crate Bed

Ultimate Pet Bed and Lounge – Premium Edition

The PetFusion Ultimate Pet Bed and Lounge is the premiere product and comes with the highest price tag. It’s the one that most buyers associate with the brand and is a top-of-the-line dog bed – inside and out.

This model is a bolster-style bed with medium-profile pillows on all edges, except for a small space in front – we’ll call it the doorway. Its design gives your pup plenty of sleeping position options with back, neck, and leg support.

Whereas the other two beds on this list use micro-suede fabric, the Ultimate is covered in tear-resistant twill. The memory foam mattress is up to 6” thick, depending on the size, and recycled green polyfill bolsters ensure your fur baby will be safe and sound, even if they find a way to bite through the tear-resistant fabric.

Sizes:

  • Small – 25” x 20” x 5.5”
  • Large – 36” x 28” x 9”
  • X-Large – 44” x 24” x 10”
  • Jumbo – 50” x 40” x 13”

Colors:

  • Slate Gray
  • Chocolate Brown
  • Sandstone with Plush

BetterLounge

The BetterLounge is a lower profile bed specifically designed for larger pups – although who’s to say that the little ones don’t want a big bed to roll around on, right?

It features a solid memory foam mattress, like the Ultimate model. However, it’s about half as thick, and the bolsters follow suit. As it’s a lounger, you’ll find a back and one side arm, ideal for bigger fur babies to hang off the side.

PetFusion’s BetterLounge comes with that valuable waterproof liner, double zippers (one for the bolsters and the other for the mattress), and a micro-suede polyester removable cover that’s machine washable. Oh, and a lower price tag!

Sizes:

  • Large – 36” x 28” x 3”
  • X-Large – 44” x 34” x 3.5”

Colors:

  • Slate Gray

PuppyChoice Dog Crate Bed

We know that the Ultimate Pet Bed is the most recognized of the PetFusion dog bed line. But our favorite is the Puppychoice Dog Crate Bed.

It’s rare to find a dog crate bed with bolsters, and this one even comes with a handy fabric handle so you can carry it and turn it into a travel bed.

Like the other two pet beds we’ve highlighted, the crate bed features a waterproof liner, water-resistant removable cover, and two zippers (a separate one for the bolsters). It’ll work with one or two-door crates.

Sizes:

  • X-Small – 21” x 12”
  • Small – 23” x 18”
  • Medium – 29” x 19”
  • Large – 35” x 22”
  • X-Large – 40” x 27”
  • XX-Large – 46” x 29”

Colors:

  • Slate Gray

Cleaning and Durability

PetFusion takes a few extra steps to ensure your pup’s bed stays pristine, even with the messiest of users.

We’ve said it quite a few times already, but the waterproof liner is one of the best features of these or any pet beds. If the washable cover gets messy, that’s one thing. You pop it into the washing machine, and it should be good as new.

But PetFusion’s covers are water-resistant and not waterproof. So, if anything makes its way through, the liner will do its job and keep the mattress safe and sound.

You’ll also appreciate the double-zipper design. One is for the removable cover at the base, and the other is for the bolsters, providing quick and easy assembly without a 100-page instruction manual!

Warranties and Policies

When you purchase directly from PetFusion, you get a one-year warranty on manufacturer’s defects. But that doesn’t include normal wear and tear. Remember, the fabric is tear-resistant and not bite-proof.

FAQ

Are There Different Types of PetFusion Dog Beds?

Yes. PetFusion has a core line-up of three models on its official website – the Ultimate Pet Bed, BetterLounge, and PuppyChoice Crate Bed. However, you’ll find other options, like PetFusion cuddlers and elevated dog beds, through retailers like Chewy.

How Much Do PetFusion Dog Beds Cost?

The specific model and size determined the price of each PetFusion dog bed. The top-of-the-line Ultimate Pet Bed can run more than $100, depending on the size you need. But other models aren’t quite as expensive.

Do PetFusion Pet Beds Have Orthopedic Mattresses?

Every PetFusion dog bed is different. However, some premiere models feature solid memory foam mattresses with orthopedic support. Lower profile beds, like the BetterLounge, also have smaller bolsters, ideal for pups to hang their neck or legs over for additional pain relief.
