Brentwood Dog Bed Review

Have you been looking for an eco-friendly dog bed for your precious pup? If so, then you’ve come to the right place as we’ve put our cherished fur baby, Scruff, to work for this Brentwood dog bed review.

The Brentwood brand prioritizes the health of the planet and its residents (furry or otherwise). So, you can feel confident you’re buying from a green company.

But, even with all of their certifications, do Brentwood dog beds pass the Scruff test? You’re about to find out if you keep reading.

Brentwood Runyon Sofa Style Dog Bed

Pros

  • Eco-friendly brand
  • Beds as large as 54” available
  • Removable covers and waterproof liners
  • Highly durable products (marketed as indestructible)
  • Stylish muted color choices
  • Three-year limited warranty
  • Layers of memory and orthopedic foam for additional support
  • Non-toxic materials – inside and out

Cons

  • The relatively high price point
  • Low-profile beds (4” thick)

Brentwood is a premium brand with high-quality products, and that includes its two styles of pet beds. Both models accommodate most dogs and feature orthopedic mattresses and furniture-grade fabrics. The downside to this particular dog bed is the price point. But, it’s a case of “you get what you pay for.”

What Dogs This Bed is Best For

Even though there are only two models of Brentwood dog beds, the Runyon and the Griffith, their construction and size availability make them ideal choices for most breeds. One of the first things we noticed was the size of the Extra Large bed, as it’s comparatively generous.

We find that 48” is usually the limit with most pet bed brands. So, Brentwood is ideal for Labs, Great Danes, etc. However, we’d recommend the Griffith, which is a plain mattress-style if 54” is still a tight fit.

Also, if you have a pup in training or an older dog with occasional incontinence, you’ll appreciate these options. Brentwood dog beds not only have washable covers but a waterproof mattress liner. So, an accident here and there won’t ruin the bed.

Features

We’re reviewing both styles of Brentwood dog beds. But you’ll find that even though they don’t look alike, the features are pretty consistent in both.

For example, the Runyon is called an orthopedic dog bed, but the Griffith has a similar mattress. It has the same orthopedic support base and a memory foam topper. Identical color and size options also apply.

Brentwood dog bed features include:

  • Double-layer mattresses – orthopedic and memory foam (4” thick)
  • Washable quilted cover made of furniture-grade fabric
  • Waterproof mattress liner
  • Non-slip fabric bottom
  • Four sizes
  • Three colors
  • CertiPUR-US certified
  • Additional certifications include Greenguard Gold and Climate Neutral
  • Covered zippers

While Brentwood claims that its dog beds are indestructible, we can’t say for sure if that’s the case. Scruff is a little guy and prefers to eat food instead of mattresses.

However, our review did reveal that Brentwood is one of your best bets for pups who scratch and chew. These are incredibly durable beds that will hold up to a lot – except maybe the most relentless of doggos.

Dog Test – Scruff’s Opinion

I love my little Brentwood mini-sofa bed. The sides go up pretty high, so I can’t really rest my head on them. That’s OK, though, because I curl up in the corner and am sooooo comfy. The bed isn’t too squishy like my donut bed, but it still feels soft under me.

Sometimes, I decide to play instead of sleep on it. When I run and jump, it doesn’t slide all over the floor like my other bed.

Sizes and Options

Unlike some competitors, Brentwood doesn’t go overboard with a boatload of products in any of its categories. Instead, you’ve got quality over quantity. Now, we were initially skeptical that this brand would provide beds for most dogs. But it’s the sizing that makes all of the difference.

You’ll see that, even though there are only four sizes, they’re generous. And, this isn’t like buying a dog collar. Bigger is better with mattress-style and sofa-style beds.

Two Brentwood Dog Bed Models:

  1. Runyon
  2. Griffith

Runyon Orthopedic Bed

Brentwood’s Runyon Orthopedic is a sofa-style dog bed. It’s got a higher back, and the arm bolsters graduate in height, which is beneficial for smaller dogs who want some support for their necks.

The dual-layered mattress has a 2” orthopedic base that’s dense and supportive. Then, on top, there’s another 2” layer of memory foam with “Bio-Foam.” The mattress is protected by a waterproof overlay and then covered in a super heavy-duty furniture-grade fabric in your choice of three colors.

Size Options

Small – 22” (L) x 18” (W) x 4” (H)

Medium – 34” (L) x 24” (W) x 4” (H)

Large – 46” (L) x 29” (W) x 4” (H)

X-Large – 54” (L) x 35” (W) x 4” (H)

If you compare the sizes, you’ll see that the dimensions for the large Runyon are comparable to extra-large or even jumbo through many other manufacturers. So, the small may still be tiny, but the extra-large is super-sized.

Color Choices

The Runyon bed comes in three muted colors that are contemporary and stylish. You’ve got your choice of Charcoal, Mocha, or Sandstone (gray, dark brown, or taupe).

The Griffith Mattress-Style Bed

We don’t have a big reveal with the Griffith. It’s just as described – a mattress-style bed.

Even though this particular model doesn’t have the word orthopedic in its name, it has the same double-layered mattress (ortho foam and memory foam) as the Runyon. Everything else remains consistent as well. You still get the waterproof liner, three color options, and four sizes.

But the Griffith is more accommodating to the largest of dogs as it doesn’t have any bolsters or side pillows taking up any real estate.

Sizes

Small – 22” (L) x 18” (W) x 4” (H)

Medium – 34” (L) x 24” (W) x 4” (H)

Large – 46” (L) x 29” (W) x 4” (H)

X-Large – 54” (L) x 35” (W) x 4” (H)

Three Colors

Charcoal, Mocha, or Sandstone (gray, dark brown, or taupe)

Cleaning and Durability

Brentwood refers to its line of dog beds as indestructible, and we can’t find anything to dispute the claim. Our review is in line with other customers who found the beds high-quality, holding up to biting and scratching.

Of course, if there’s a will, there’s a way, but the furniture-grade fabric is pretty darn tough. Plus, you’ve got layers of foam instead of shredded fill, which is also a doggie deterrent. The zippers are also covered to prevent extreme wear and tear and protect your floors.

Clean and Re-Cover

To clean the Brentwood dog bed, you can machine wash the cover and let it air dry. Then, just wipe down the interior waterproof layer if needed, but the mattress should keep for a long time.

However, if you’re ready to change up the design of the fabric is showing its age, replacement covers are also available.

Warranties and Policies

We always thoroughly research return policies in our dog bed reviews, especially if you’re making a significant investment. Brentwood produces premium dog beds that are pricier than many other brands.

Brentwood Return Policies

Fortunately, the company has two options, so you don’t have to feel like you’re stuck if your fur baby doesn’t love their new bed.

  1. 30-day Risk-Free Trial
  2. 3-Year Limited Warranty

After 30 days, the limited warranty covers manufacturer defects and not average wear and tear. You can file a claim via email, and then you’ll be shipped a replacement.
